More paddling

Yep, have been staying off my feet and spending my exercising time in the pool, on the bike or in the boat.

Today I met my paddling mate Andrew at Crib Point- paddled to French Island where we disembarked into the mud and shared a Turkish Delight before heading back over to Hastings. We saw some seals on the way in through the channel – one even followed me for a bit- they don’t come when you whistle at them, even though they seem like dogs.
After a snack and a beer (why?) at Hastings, we went back out into a fierce headwind and some big waves – it was freakishly hard work and I was knackered and regretting the beer big time. We eventually made it back at 3.30, despite our original plans to be back by 1100.

I guess I need to start telling Andrew when I am scared instead of blindly following him into bigger and bigger seas and hoping for the best.
I haven’t fallen out of my boat yet, which is good because I can’t get back in without a paddle float which is a bit of farfing around.

I love my boat.

  1. The bit with the turkish delight and the beer sounds about all I could cope with!

  2. Sounds like your relationship with your boat might be like mine with my bike!
